There are some records of British Masonic activity in Germany immediatly after the end of the II World War. But only on the 3rd of February 1957 at an Extraordinary Meeting at the Malcom Club, Joint Headqarters, Rheindahlen, approval was given, from the GM of the United Grand Lodges of Germany, for the founding of a British lodge District. Further privileges were given after that, at a meeting in the summer of 1962, a Canadian brother (W Bro May) made a motion that they be permitted to form a Provincial Grand Lodge. With great surprise at the annual Convention of the United Grand Lodges of Germany an announcement was made allowing the constitution of an American/Canadian and a British Provincial Grand Lodge. On the 6th of July 1963 the inaugural meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of British Freemasons in Germany took place at the Lodgehaus situated in Lemforderstrasse 7, Hannover (Niedersachsen).
